FMA provides complete Architectural and Design services throughout all phases of design and construction.

We provide architectural services from the early stages of the project, such as programing, zoning and use analysis to help our clients in investments decision.  We also work closely with our clients throughout all designs and construction phases to achieve the project’s budget within the design concept.

Our objective is to provide our clients with financially feasible designs to meet the marketplace requirements and ensure project success while achieving quality of design.

In 1984, Karl Fischer the founder of Karl Fischer Architecture, PLLC established his boutique design firm in Montreal, Canada. Over the past years, the firm has expanded its business throughout Canada, the United States and internationally.

A graduate of McGill University, Karl Fischer is a registered architect in Canada and in the United States. His expertise in the areas of design and planning have earned him accolades in several arenas, including The Domus Prize in 1995 & 1996 and The Starchitects Award in 2007.  His work has been highlighted in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Gazette and other prominent newspapers and magazines.

With a growing client list in and around the New York area, in 1999 Karl Fischer Architecture opened a branch office in New York City.  In 2003, the New York office moved into the city’s hip SoHo neighborhood with an emphasis on high-quality exterior and interior design.

Karl Fischer Architecture specialized in new building design, condominium conversions, single and Multiple-Family Housing, and Commercial projects. The company provides its clients with a full range of services, including personalized design, interior design, site planning, economic feasibility studies, budget preparation and specification and construction services.

In 2012, Fariba Makooi Joined the firm as a Senior Managing Architect and now is the Principal of Fischer + Makooi Architects PLLC.

Fariba Makooi brings an extensive experience in design and implementation of residential projects in New York City.

Fariba Makooi areas of expertise include Zoning Analysis, Programming for Hi-rise Residential Buildings, Managing Residential Projects from Schematic Design through Construction Administration Designing & Planning Residential / Hospitality projects, Managing HPD and HUD projects.

Fariba Makooi, is a registered Architect in the state of New York, United States, received her Bachelor of Architecture from SUNY at University of Buffalo and Master Degree from New York University (NYU). Fariba Makooi is a member of American Institute of Architects (AIA) and, Design and Construction Network and Women in Architecture AIANY.
